Rules
Welcome to A Survival Server! Our vision is simple: play Minecraft just like you would in singleplayer—but with friends. To help keep that experience fun and fair for everyone, here are our rules.
When in doubt, we operate on a good-faith basis. That means we trust you to use common sense and follow the spirit of the rules:
If you violate any of these rules, staff may take action. Punishments can range from a warning or mute to being jailed, kicked, or permanently banned. Staff may also roll back any in-game actions if necessary.
GENERAL RULES
Cheating is not allowed.
Any tool or behavior that gives you an unfair advantage—like hacks, automation, or bug abuse—is considered cheating and is not allowed.
Ask before using mods.
Only cosmetic/performance mods (like Optifine or shaders) are allowed by default. Anything that affects gameplay—like brightness boosting—must be approved by staff.
Don’t grief or steal. Looting requires permission.
You may not destroy other players' builds, even if they’re unclaimed. Offensive or destructive builds (like lava casts) aren’t allowed either. Ask staff before looting unclaimed areas.
Rules of behaviour.
No slurs, hate speech, NSFW content, excessive trolling, or spamming. We want a safe space for everyone.
Liability.
We discourage forming external Discord servers tied to A Survival Server. If you do, let us know. Your safety is your responsibility—especially if you're a minor. Contact your guardian or authorities if you're in danger.
No sharing sensitive personal information.
Never share or request sensitive info like real names, addresses, phone numbers, or personal media. Doing so will result in severe punishment.
Staff will never ask for sensitive information.
If someone claims to be staff and asks for sensitive information, report them. All donations go through Patreon—legit support requests will only happen through our ticket system.
Keep it friendly, and in the English Language.
Please speak English in global chat and avoid profanity to keep the environment inclusive.
Advertising is not allowed.
Promoting other Minecraft servers, even in private messages, is not allowed without permission. This includes inviting others to games elsewhere.
Trade at your own risk. Scammers may be punished.
Staff won’t enforce trade disputes, but repeat scammers can be punished. Large giveaways need staff approval to protect the economy.
Inventory rollback or restoration requests are not assured.
We don't guarantee inventory or build recovery. Requests must include clear screenshots or video—eyewitnesses aren't enough.
There are restrictions on Farms and AFK.
Large farms cause lag. Keep them reasonable. Don’t use tricks to avoid AFK detection.
Redstone related rules.
Creative redstone is encouraged, but laggy or broken designs may be removed. Avoid exploits or bugs.
Be smart with your claims.
Avoid building too close to others. Unclaimed builds aren’t protected, and rollbacks are not guaranteed. Griefing public projects will result in harsh penalties.
Do not misrepresent yourself as staff, or threaten punishments towards other users.
Only staff can issue punishments or rule interpretations. Do not claim staff powers or threaten others with punishments.
Responsibilities, VPN, IPs and more
VPN use is not allowed. You’re responsible for everything done on your account. Alt accounts are okay, but don’t use them to exploit systems.
Compliance with Mojang Terms of Service
Any activity banned by Mojang's TOS or EULA (gambling, adult content, etc.) is also banned here. Player casinos and similar systems are not allowed.
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy outlines how A Survival Server collects, uses, and protects player data while ensuring server integrity and compliance with relevant laws and agreements.
Data Collection and Use
We collect minimal player data (e.g. IPs, usernames) for moderation and server management. We use third-party platforms like Patreon, which have their own privacy terms.
Authorization and Player Agreement
By playing on A Survival Server, players authorize the server to:
Store and manage gameplay-related data for server operations, including but not limited to moderation, rollback requests, and economic balancing.
Retain IP addresses for as long as necessary to maintain security.
Share anonymized gameplay data with partners or platforms for analytics, with no personally identifiable information disclosed.
Utilize submitted content (e.g., screenshots, builds, or suggestions) for server promotions and community showcases without further compensation or attribution.
Protection and Liability
Player Responsibility: Players are responsible for securing their accounts. A Survival Server will not be liable for actions performed under compromised accounts.
Data Breaches: While A Survival Server implements robust security measures, it cannot guarantee complete immunity from breaches. Players will be notified promptly if a data breach occurs.
Content Ownership: Players do not retain ownership of original content created in-game.
Unions
Unions are groups of players with shared goals (e.g. building, events). They need 5 members, a base, a purpose, and must be approved via ticket. See the full Union Rules section below for leadership, conduct, and claim responsibilities.
To create a Union, you will need:
Five active members verified on our Discord.
A base that is either built or actively in progress.
A banner and a color scheme.
A unique and well-defined purpose.
A membership list, including the leader and second-in-charge.
The name of your union.
The location of your base.
When you are ready, post this information on Discord in a Questions & Help Ticket. A Survival Server Owners will review your request and let you know if your application is accepted.
Union Rules
Leadership & Membership:
Unions must designate a leader and a second-in-charge.
Leaders who remain inactive for 3 months without transferring leadership will be forcibly replaced and removed from the Union.
Unions can have a maximum of 15 members, including the leaders.
Union Purpose & Conduct:
Unions must have a unique purpose that is either social (e.g., founding a cult or religion) or practical (e.g., building infrastructure or organizing events).
Unions with identical or very similar purposes cannot be created unless they agree to be absorbed into the primary union in the event of failure.
Unions must respect their members, the A Survival Server Community, and each other. (We’re not a factions server!)
Avoid unnecessary fights and competitions.
Remember that rules made by unions do not apply to non-union members. A Survival Server Rules apply above all.
Unions cannot bully community members or misrepresent themselves as staff.
Union leaders abusing members of the A Survival Server Community may be removed by A Survival Server Staff.
Union Property:
Contributions to unions remain the property of that union.
Builds or items donated to a union remain union property, even if the contributor leaves.
Exceptions apply if you are the sole creator of a build or area.
Merging and Dissolving Unions:
When two unions merge to form a new one, a new name tag must be chosen. Members must be reviewed, and those joining the new union specified in the request.
The new union must remain within the membership limit.
When one union absorbs another, the absorbing union’s tag remains, and all members of the absorbed union join (unless the player limit is exceeded).
Inactive Unions:
A Survival Server Owners may disband unions after several weeks of inactivity.
Progress will be reviewed every 6 months (January 1 and June 1). Unions showing minimal progress may be required to merge, be absorbed, or dissolve.
Members leaving a union cannot join another for 2 weeks.
Leaders dissolving their own union cannot create a new one for 6 months.
Union Events and Claims:
Union events involving prizes or giveaways should be approved by A Survival Server Staff.
Large unions are encouraged to have multiple leaders in charge of different aspects.
Unions are suggested to share claim blocks to protect union land.
Additional Notes:
Severe punishments may be applied to union leaders or members if they cause disorder on the server.
Claiming Rules
Claim it!
Don’t claim too close to other players’ builds, or where it could be annoying for them.
Don’t claim villages, strongholds or other important structures. If you wish to restore or utilize these areas for any purpose, you can ask a staff member for permission to work in these spaces on a claim with some restrictions.
If you find something unclaimed, ask before claiming or stealing. Destruction of unclaimed land is not permitted. Looting is only allowed with permission from staff.
If your unclaimed house gets griefed, rollback is not always guaranteed. You have to claim it. Staff could decide to revert the area to its original state. Public projects are the only exclusion to this rule. You can leave a public project unclaimed if that makes it easier for people to make use of it. Griefing a public project is severely prohibited and will result in a very long jail time or permanent ban. A public project is a project made with the participation of multiple players, not only from the same group of friends/union A public project is something that all the players can use to do something (if it has a use)
Claims are deleted if you are offline for more than 30 days. We will not rollback looted or over-claimed areas if you are inactive for a period of time and your claim is removed.
If you have not been active on the server for more than 2 months, rarely hopping in for just some seconds/minutes to prevent your claims from being unclaimed, your tactic isn’t going to work.
A Survival Server has limited space and resources, and we want it to be used by actively playing players.
Renting claims
You can rent a shop at spawn by renting a shopkeeper (villager). The number of spawn stalls or any other plot available for rent is limited.
If the shop’s owner goes inactive for too long, players are allowed to file a ticket to get the plot reset.
It’s strongly suggested to not claim any shop if you are planning to go offline for a long period of time. A friend of yours can keep the shop rented for you, but staff won’t help with any issue coming from this specific case.
Breaking any of the previous rules may lead to a permanent shop reset.
If your shop gets reset by an admin, you won’t be refunded.
Additional rules for secondary worlds and regions
Not just the overworld
Rules that apply to the main world apply to the secondary worlds too, however each world has some additional rules.
Please act responsibly in the Nether:
The wither may only be spawned in the designated Wither Arena (Lava Portal @ Spawn). Do not build there.
A Survival Server’s wither is much more powerful than the vanilla wither. If you die because of the wither, staff will not restore your inventory.
The Wither Arena will automatically reset builds over time. This means that any blocks placed there may be destroyed including shulkers or chests. If you lose your items due to resets, staff will not restore them.
Griefing in the Nether is prohibited, with the same rules as the overworld.
Be cautious when building in the Nether. (Claim your builds!)
When building in the nether with expensive blocks or rare items, or if your build is frequently griefed, consider using a Nether Claim Block to protect your build.
Staff will only rollback your builds a limited number of times, so it is important to protect your builds with claim blocks if they contain rare items.
Avoid asking staff for rollbacks on minor damage, such as a few missing cobblestone blocks that you can easily repair yourself.
Punishments
Types of punishment
Rollbacks – The rollback of inventory or placed blocks, in a set area or globally. Mutes – Temporary or Permanent. Users will be unable to utilise chat functions. Warnings – Warnings before larger punishments are used. Jail – Users are able to login, and chat if they are not muted. They are stuck in a jail cell. Bans – Temporary or Permanent. Users are unable to login to the server. Nameban – Users are unable to join the server until they change their username. IP Ban – Temporary or Permanent. All users that use this IP address cannot login.
The severity of the punishment is determined by the staff member, taking into consideration:
The severity of the action being punished,
If the user is likely to break the rules again, and
The user’s history of breaking rules.
Appealing a punishment
To appeal punishments, please join our Discord and post in the appropriate channel for review with your IGN and explanation for your appeal. We will evaluate your request, and, eventually, get your account unbanned. Factors such as playtime are not proven to impact on our decision making process.
Contesting a punishment outside the appropriate communication channel can lead to an increase in the punishment length or type. This rule applies to both the offender and anyone else who publicly comments the punishment issued on somebody else.
Definitions
Types of punishment
Griefing is modifying or destroying another user’s build or land without their permission.
Looting is taking items from an abandoned base with staff permission. If you do not have permission, it is considered stealing (which is against the rules).
Flaming is insulting, provoking, or being unnecessarily harsh/rude towards other players.
Trolling is the act of deliberately causing trouble or conflict on the server.
Rollback is when a staff member uses commands to restore an area to its previous state.
Regeneration is the process whereby an area returns to its natural, untouched, state.
AFK means being Away From Keyboard
